Everyone desires to know the right treatment for mouth sores as these oral sores are very uncomfortable and often embarrassing.

Canker sores are painful recurring ulcers inside the mouth that afflict 60 million Americans. They are not viral or contagious. The most common form, called minor aphthous ulcers, are less than 10 mm in diameter and typically heal within 10-14 days.

These sores can cause excruciating pain and can even be a sign of an underlying health problem. Oral sores are medially categorized as a canker sore and cold sore. They are considered less severe as compared to cold sores. The cold sores are fever blisters, which are caused by a microbe named Herpes Simplex virus type 1 and seen in a more threatening position.

The actual cause of the canker sores is still unknown. Usually women are more affected by the men due to the canker sores. Generally they affect the people between the age group of 10-40 years although they can affect the person at any age. Diet may be a factor for some people as well, though specific triggering foods have not been identified. There are no significant complications caused by unhealed canker sores, but the acute mouth pain can interfere with the ability to eat, drink, or speak and impair the sufferer's quality of life.

Although the definite cause for these cold and canker sores remains unknown but medical experts have identified certain triggering factors that usually lead to growth of these mouth sores.
